This amazing vintage cookie tin was a gift from my dear friend Liz.  She picked it up at a yard sale in Victoria for me.  Thank you Lizzy!  It's now filled with my stash of stamp packs.

It felt so very good to send out three letters yesterday!  The post boxes have all been unsealed so I'm back at my letter-writing.

A new-ish addition to my collection of rubber stamps are these Canadian coin stamps.  They're just darling!

mail, once again

After several weeks of striking and a lockout, Canada Post is back to delivering mail today.  I'm looking forward to seeing letters and postcards piled up inside our mailbox once again!

P.S. Gaelen stamped her wedding invitations with my vintage stamps.  From the kraft paper envelopes to the printed map they're beauties!

Syrian stamps

My mother-in-law recently took a trip to Syria and I was the lucky recipient of these gorgeous stamps and air mail stickers.  Honestly, stamps sure do make great souvenirs and gifts!

Blackbird Vintage Finds

My vintage stamp packs are now available at Blackbird Vintage Finds in Toronto's Distillery District!  This fantastic shop just opened last month.  So many sweet goodies to be had (including some vintage globes that remind me of my primary school days).  Here's a little write-up about Blackbird.

I was completely delighted to receive these gorgeous stamps and vintage goodies from Vantiani last week.  Boy, I tell you, penpals make my day!  Thank you Vantiani!

I'm off to a little espresso + biscotti party at school, then I'm delivering a fresh batch of stamp packs to The Paper Place.  Who could resist these provincial flower stamps?

Grannie's letter

I swear the art of handwriting is slowly being lost.  Joseph's grannie sends us lovely, long letters every few months.  Before reading the letters I just sit and stare at her script.  It's from another time.

P.S. Canada Post is now locked out across the country.  It's heartbreaking to think of all of the empty mailboxes.

I heart Toronto

I love my city!  This mini souvenir booklet stole my heart.  I love seeing old pictures of Toronto when the skyline was so teeny-tiny.  These little snapshots will make perfect mini postcards!

QE II + the Prince

Sometimes a girl just needs a stamp with a queen and her prince!  These ones of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were issued in 1957.  Beauties I tell you!

birthday celebrations!

Today is Joey's birthday which means some celebrating is going down!  We'll start the day with brunch at Aunties + Uncles and then see where the day takes us.  In the week leading up to his birthday I always hide his birthday cards that arrive in the mail and pile them up for his birthday morning.  Tea + cards to start his day!

Tonight's agenda includes making a whole bunch of new (old) stamp packs.  My inventory is low.  I need to get on the summery, flowery packs!

Parchment Post summer collection

Earlier this week my Parchment Post summer collection arrived.  It's such a treat to receive a package full of notecards!  These lovelies are by the Macon York, Screech Owl Design, Claudia Pearson + Chef Sung Uni Lee, Deadweight, Present & Correct and A Favorite Design.

P.S. Canada Post is officially on strike, rotating cities evey 24 hours.  Today Winnipeg, tomorrow Hamilton.  I'm hopeful that a satisfying resolution for all is in the near future.

one very full mailbox

My mailbox has been full of lovely letters and packages lately.  A few of note are:
- Many letters from my dearest Phillipa including one typed on party ribbon.
- Rhya's mini fox diorama.
- A handmade zippered pouch from Laura.  (I'm in love with the frog fabric!)
- A sweet set of cards from Courtney of Swiss Cottage Designs in Brooklyn.

news

It's up!  My second guest blog post for The Paper Place is all about making your own stationery and keeping cool on hot summer days.  

In other news, I'm a student once again!  In a matter of days I went from considering school to being registered.  Yesterday was my first day of Italian class!  My class is tiny (only five students) and I have a wonderful Sicilian instructor.  Now all I need is a pencil case.  (The ziploc baggie just won't do!)
